Manufacturing ERP

Ranked 3 of 35 at 67 out of 100.

ERP suites for manufacturing: production, supply-chain, quality and financial cores.

What the evidence says

The checked evidence corroborates manual workflows around manufacturing ERP cores. Amtico outgrew its on-premise QAD system and later upgraded to QAD Cloud. Zentis staff re-entered hundreds of orders into SAP before an overlay automated most. Both cases are vendor-hosted. Neither shows core replacement.

Providers

The card checked three incumbents: Infor LN, QAD Enterprise Applications and Epicor Kinetic. Infor reports 1,500-plus discrete manufacturing customers on an undated page. QAD reported roughly 6,000 licensed sites in its FY2009 filing. That count is 2009-era and company-wide. Epicor reports more than 15,000 customers across the post-2011 combined company. The three figures use different units, scopes and periods. No ranking is supported.

Workist is the recorded challenger. Its vendor case reports Zentis running order-entry automation alongside SAP since 2021. Over 70% of orders needed no touching by the case’s account. The figures are vendor-reported.

The pain

Manual processes, duplicated effort and siloed spreadsheets surrounded Amtico’s ERP. Its head of IT judged on-premise expansion a poor investment.

At Zentis, staff read and re-entered hundreds of orders into SAP manually.

Events

Amtico upgraded a long-running QAD estate to QAD Cloud at three sites. The case is undated. A September 2017 footer is the only date.

Zentis adopted Workist’s order-entry overlay alongside SAP. The vendor reports 50% of orders automatic at go-live and over 70% later. Neither event is a core replacement.

Limits

Both quotes come from vendor-hosted case studies. No buyer-hosted testimony is retained. Reported gains are vendor-reported and unaudited. No failed replacement or core-displacement event was retained.

In their words

We had outgrown our existing system

Source: Simon Smith, Head of IT, Amtico International, undated

Before Workist, we had to enter a large proportion of orders manually, which was very time-consuming.
