Wealth and portfolio accounting
Ranked 16 of 35 at 57.5 out of 100.
Portfolio and investment accounting systems of record for asset and wealth managers.
What the evidence says
The checked evidence corroborates bounded buyer pain. Goldman’s modernization deck documents cost, skills and scalability pressure on InvestOne. Its staged migration path is documented, not a completed cutover. The challenger’s release describes managers consolidating six to nine older systems each.
Providers
The card checked three incumbents: FIS’s InvestOne, SEI’s TRUST 3000 and Avaloq. A vendor case study puts InvestOne at a majority share of mutual-fund activity. That share’s denominator is unspecified in the source. SEI’s FY2016 filing records 94 material TRUST 3000 relationships. Avaloq reports 170-plus clients across 35 countries on an undated page. No shared denominator exists. No ranking is supported.
Ridgeline is the recorded challenger. Its September 2026 release reports AUM commitments above $750 billion. Committed assets are not confirmed live production. The AI-native label is vendor-attributed.

The pain
Mainframe-bound accounting concentrates cost, skills and scalability pressure. The Goldman deck lists roughly $6 million of annual infrastructure cost. It also lists hard-to-change custom code and difficult mainframe hiring.
Investment managers historically grew headcount and spend with revenue. Adopters consolidate about six to nine older systems each, per the vendor.

Events
GSAM licensed InvestOne in 1991 and documented its mainframe challenges. The deck describes a tactical-then-strategic path, not a completed migration.
Smead’s chief executive praised Ridgeline in a dual customer-investor capacity. That testimony is not an independent counterfactual.

Limits
The Ridgeline material is vendor-published. The Smead statement is customer testimony by a disclosed investor. No independent prevalence or displacement outcomes were captured.
